Facility : Cardiac Units and IICU
Size : 26,000 SF Renovation
Location : Lancaster, PA
Renovations to the sixth floor of Lancaster General Hospital transformed a 26,000-square-foot maternity ward into state-of-the-art cardiac units and intermediate intensive care units (IICU). The mechanics of the project were high-tech, involving coordinating the installation of critical medical gas lines and emergency systems and integrating a new fire alarm system into the hospital's existing system. Electrically-grounded glass doorways align the two parallel hallways of the North wing, enabling the intermediate intensive care patients to be closely monitored from the nurses' station. Two additional nurses' stations were built in the East and West wings where patient rooms are more private and include bathroom facilities.
